Rare vintage #4708 Santa Claus mug made by Lefton (Japan) in the 1950's. This mug is unusual because Santa's hat forms the handle directly behind his head, and Santa is shown with a pipe and glasses. The mug is about 3 1/2" H x 3 1/2" W x 5" front-to-back over the handle. There are a few minor nicks to the red cold-painted hat. Santa's face is beautifully hand-painted with very realistic matte-finished skin tones. Mug has the red Lefton foil seal on the bottom. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. Overall, this mug is in very good used vintage condition and will make a great addition to your Christmas collection.
